CWA and Commonwealth Communications, LLC 2005 Contract Negotiations

On Friday, December 16, 2005, Local 13571 members employed by Commonwealth Communications, LLC ratified a revised, Tentative Agreement they were offered by 3 to 1.

A majority of members voted down the original, Tentative Agreement on September 9, 2005, which led to the CWA’s decision to utilize the Federal Mediation & Conciliation Service.

The 2 FMCS sessions resulted in breakthroughs in the areas of sick leave pay and company vehicle usage, as well as the renegotiation of the retroactivity date for the new wage rates.

Additional highlights of the new, 4-year Agreement include improvements in: Union Security, Contracting of Work, Stand By and Differential Compensation, Vacations, Life and AD&D Insurance Benefits, Sick Leave Plan and Benefits, Pension Plan Multiplies, and Wages.

The wage increases are: Year 1 = 2.5%, Year 2 = 2.5%, Year 3 = 2.75%, and Year 4 = 2.75%.

The effective dates and duration of the new Agreement are: June 30, 2005 to June 29, 2009.
